Smoothie Bowl

⏱ 10 min 🍽 Serves 2 📈 easy 🌍 American
Finished dish

A thick, creamy smoothie served in a bowl and loaded with crunchy granola, fresh fruit, and toppings. Like eating a delicious dessert for breakfast but packed with nutrition.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add frozen berries, frozen banana, yogurt, milk, and honey to a blender.
  2. Blend until thick and creamy, using the tamper or stopping to scrape down sides. The consistency should be thicker than a drinkable smoothie, like soft-serve ice cream.
  3. Use as little liquid as possible. If too thick to blend, add milk one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Divide between two bowls, smoothing the tops flat.
  5. Arrange toppings in rows across the surface: a stripe of granola, fresh berries, chia seeds, and coconut.
  6. Serve immediately before it melts.

Chef's note: The key to a good smoothie bowl is using frozen fruit and minimal liquid so it stays thick enough to support toppings. Freeze overripe bananas in advance. Get creative with toppings: nut butters, cacao nibs, hemp seeds, or sliced almonds all work great.
