Smoothie Bowl
A thick, creamy smoothie served in a bowl and loaded with crunchy granola, fresh fruit, and toppings. Like eating a delicious dessert for breakfast but packed with nutrition.
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen mixed berries
- 1 frozen banana
- ½ cup yogurt
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tbsp honey
- ½ cup granola
- ¼ cup fresh blueberries
- ¼ cup sliced strawberries
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp shredded coconut
Method
- Add frozen berries, frozen banana, yogurt, milk, and honey to a blender.
- Blend until thick and creamy, using the tamper or stopping to scrape down sides. The consistency should be thicker than a drinkable smoothie, like soft-serve ice cream.
- Use as little liquid as possible. If too thick to blend, add milk one tablespoon at a time.
- Divide between two bowls, smoothing the tops flat.
- Arrange toppings in rows across the surface: a stripe of granola, fresh berries, chia seeds, and coconut.
- Serve immediately before it melts.
Chef's note: The key to a good smoothie bowl is using frozen fruit and minimal liquid so it stays thick enough to support toppings. Freeze overripe bananas in advance. Get creative with toppings: nut butters, cacao nibs, hemp seeds, or sliced almonds all work great.
