Banana and Blueberry Oat Bars (No Added Sugar)
Soft-baked breakfast bars sweetened only with banana and bursts of blueberry — no refined sugar, no syrup, no nuts. Perfect for toddler breakfasts on busy mornings, and squidgy enough for little mouths from 12 months.
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe bananas, mashed
- 200 g porridge oats
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 100 ml whole milk
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted unsalted butter
- 100 g blueberries, halved
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C fan and line a 20 cm square tin with baking paper.
- Mash the bananas, then stir in the egg, milk, oil and cinnamon.
- Fold in the oats and halved blueberries.
- Press into the tin and bake until set and golden at the edges.
- Cool completely in the tin before cutting into 12 soft bars.
Chef's note: Halve blueberries for toddlers — like grapes, whole round fruits should be cut for under-5s (quarter grapes lengthways, always). The egg is fully baked. No honey needed; if you ever do add it for over-1s, remember honey is never safe under 12 months. Freezes for 2 months.
