Avocado Baby Food
Simple mashed avocado packed with healthy fats essential for baby's brain development. One of the easiest and most nutritious first foods, ready in minutes with no cooking required.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 tbsp breast milk, formula, or water
Method
- Cut a ripe avocado in half and remove the pit. The avocado should yield easily to gentle pressure.
- Scoop the flesh into a small bowl.
- Mash thoroughly with a fork until smooth for younger babies, or leave slightly chunky for babies 8+ months who are practicing textures.
- Stir in a small amount of breast milk, formula, or water to reach desired consistency.
- Serve immediately, as avocado browns quickly once exposed to air.
Chef's note: NEVER add honey for babies under 1 year. No salt or sugar needed. Avocado does not freeze well as a puree due to browning. Use a perfectly ripe avocado for the best flavor. If avocado is the first food, start with a very small amount to check for any reactions.
