Apple and Banana Mash
A naturally sweet and creamy mash of ripe banana and cooked apple, perfect for babies 4-6 months and older. No added sugar needed thanks to the natural sweetness of the fruit.
Ingredients
- 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 medium ripe banana
- 2 tbsp water
Method
- Peel and core the apple, then cut into small dice for quick cooking.
- Place diced apple in a small saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until very soft.
- Peel the ripe banana and add it to the saucepan with the cooked apple.
- Mash with a fork for a chunkier texture or blend for a smoother puree, depending on your baby's stage.
- Let cool to a safe lukewarm temperature before serving. Test on your wrist.
Chef's note: NEVER add honey for babies under 1 year due to botulism risk. No sugar or salt needed. Use the ripest banana you can find for maximum natural sweetness. Stores in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze in portions for up to 3 months.
