Apple and Banana Mash

⏱ 15 min 🍽 Serves 3 📈 easy 🌍 American
Finished dish

A naturally sweet and creamy mash of ripe banana and cooked apple, perfect for babies 4-6 months and older. No added sugar needed thanks to the natural sweetness of the fruit.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Peel and core the apple, then cut into small dice for quick cooking.
  2. Place diced apple in a small saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water. Cover and cook over medium-low heat until very soft.
  3. Peel the ripe banana and add it to the saucepan with the cooked apple.
  4. Mash with a fork for a chunkier texture or blend for a smoother puree, depending on your baby's stage.
  5. Let cool to a safe lukewarm temperature before serving. Test on your wrist.

Chef's note: NEVER add honey for babies under 1 year due to botulism risk. No sugar or salt needed. Use the ripest banana you can find for maximum natural sweetness. Stores in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze in portions for up to 3 months.
